Ghosts, Legends, and the Unexplained at Crowley’s Ridge State Park
On Friday, October 28th from 6:30pm to 10:00pm, Crowley’s Ridge State Park will once again be the go-to destination for Halloween fun with Ghosts, Legends, and the Unexplained. The event will feature a free trail of treats on Lake Ponder Trail with candy, carnival-style games, zombie photo booth, face painting, and much more. Candy will be donated by local businesses. Lake Ponder Trail is stroller and handicapped accessible, so bring the whole family. The famous haunted hayride has been extended this year, taking you deep into the woods for an even better experience! The hayride will cost $4.00 for ages 13+ and $2.00 for ages 12 and under. The hayride will feature the ever popular zombies as well as ghostly visitors from the past. Sharp-eyed visitors might even spot the Wildman of Crowley’s Ridge while on the hayride. All attendees are encouraged to bring a flashlight and a bag for candy. Concessions and souvenirs will be available for purchase at the CCC Pavilion. The event is cash only- checks and credit cards will not be accepted.
This year the park will also be hosting a “Ghouls” and Boys kid’s costume contest. We have also expanded this event by adding 3 more contests categories! The age categories are:
Ages 2-4: Contest begins at 6:30 with registration opening at 6:15.
Ages 5-8: Contest begins at 7:00 with registration opening at 6:30.
Ages 9-12: Contest begins at 7:30 with registration opening at 7:00.
Ages 13-17: Contest begins at 8:00 with registration opening at 7:30.
Ages 18+: Contest begins at 8:30 with registration opening at 8:00.
All costumes must be age appropriate and trophies and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category. Please keep in mind that being on time is very important for this contest as there are a limited amount of spots for each category.
“Tricks and Treats” pet costume contest is back by popular demand this year.
Submit a photo of your “boo-tiful” pet in a Halloween costume for a chance to win some great prizes donated by local businesses. Pictures must be submitted by October 11th in order to be in the contest. You can submit the pictures by emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org or by bringing them into the Visitor Center. The photos will be displayed in the Visitor Center and visitors can vote for their favorite. Voting will end at 3:00pm on October 30th and the winners will be notified.
